Ádám Korbuly, CTO and founder of OrthoGraph, attended the Medika 2024 exhibition in Düsseldorf, Germany to present our company’s latest developments in digital twin technology. After achieving numerous successes in hospital facility management and industrial applications, we decided to strengthen our presence in this field.
Our commitment was further reinforced when OrthoGraph won the gold medal at the EIT Health 2024 competition with its unique hospital cleaning control technology concept. These achievements provided a solid foundation for the success of our exhibition appearance.
At the fair, we met numerous visitors who showed great interest in our digital twin technology and its value-creating capabilities. The most important topics where they were seeking solutions—and where we can confidently provide answers—were similar in both hospital and industrial applications. While in hospitals we focus on making the management of human lives safer, in the industrial sector we offer solutions to increase production stability.
The most exciting topics were:
- Significantly reducing or preventing unplanned failures and shutdowns.
- Centralized recording of complete property knowledge—including inventory—thus becoming independent of knowledge stored with subcontractors and employees, which is unfortunately a common issue today.
In both cases, the most important values of OrthoGraph’s digital twin are the ability to easily create a graphical equipment inventory and keep it up-to-date during daily operational tasks by the regular technical and maintenance staff.
It was interesting to discuss that in industrial facilities, the return on investment is not only immediate because unplanned shutdowns are extremely costly and problematic, but also because if the shutdown can be prevented—e.g., by integrating IoT data—we can significantly reduce the risk of restarting production. It was surprising to realize that it’s not uncommon for a factory where the probability of unsuccessful first-time restart exceeds 95%.
We discussed these and similar optimization topics with senior executives from hospitals and pharmaceutical manufacturing companies from various parts of the world, resulting in many new and interesting connections by the end of the fair.
We thank all the visitors for their positive feedback and hope to start several joint projects with them soon.
